This is a compatibility step that allows both the older form
and the new form to co-exist for a while until the older can
be removed entirely.
All transformations are of the form:

- Show on the Status LEDs, some States of the board.

Each of the filesystem drivers duplicate the get_dev routine. This change
merges them into a single function in part.c
